Victoria or “Egg” is a high school senior who loves science fiction movies, has an actress for a mother, a special effects guy or a dad and just doesn’t fit in. Boy Proof is a coming of age story where Victoria finds herself. This novel addresses many issues that teens deal with during high school. I really like that Victoria remains true to herself throughout the story and is able to admit when she is wrong. There is a bit of a love interest in the story that I was able to identify with- remembering my own teen years and crushes. Though the protagonist is female, it is not an overly girly book, and I think that some guys might enjoy it. This book is better suited for individual reading than it is for assigned class reading. I would recommend it for grades 7-10.
